The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Fans' Season 2 Bingo Cards — With Some Positive Updates
The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
